Basics

What does Doppel actually do?
It creates an isolated second instance of an installed Android app. The instance runs alongside the original, gets its own launcher icon, and is signed in to a different account. The two copies don't share data, caches, or notifications.
Do I need to root my phone?
No. Doppel is a regular Play Store app. It works without root and without any complicated setup — nothing about your phone's system is changed.
Which Android versions are supported?
Android 14 and newer. Older versions aren't supported because the technology Doppel relies on to keep instances separate only works on Android 14 and up.
How many instances can I have?
Free lets you add up to 5 apps with 2 instances each, and work-profile copies share that same budget. Lifetime makes apps and instances unlimited. You can have multiple instances of the same app (e.g. three Telegrams) on Lifetime.
Some apps won't run as an instance — what then?
A few apps with strict security checks refuse to run as a second instance. For those, Doppel can set the app up in an Android Work Profile instead — a separate, isolated copy managed by Android. A work-profile copy counts against the same limit as an instance. Banking and payment apps are always blocked and can't be added either way.

Privacy & security

Can an instance read data from another instance or from the original app?
No. Each instance is kept fully separate — its own data, its own caches, its own secure storage. Nothing crosses between them; that separation is the security boundary.
Do you see what I do inside an instance?
We don't. Doppel doesn't proxy or log traffic from your app instances to their servers. We collect crash reports and basic install metrics for the host Doppel app itself. The full data inventory is documented on the Privacy page.
Will Doppel interfere with my banking app?
Doppel doesn't change anything about your phone's system. Even so, most banking and payment apps refuse to run as a second instance, and Doppel always blocks them anyway. They stay on our excluded list so you don't waste time trying to set them up.

Billing

How much does Doppel cost?
The Free plan costs nothing and works forever. Lifetime is a one-time $19.99 purchase that unlocks unlimited apps and instances, removes ads, and adds App Lock and the Secret Zone. There's no monthly or yearly plan.
How is billing handled?
Through Google Play Billing. Doppel doesn't take credit cards directly. Lifetime is a one-time $19.99 purchase; the receipt, refunds, and family-sharing settings live in the Play Store.
Free trial?
No — there's no free trial. The Free tier is the way to try Doppel before paying. Lifetime is a single one-time purchase, and you're charged once when you buy it.
Is Lifetime a subscription?
No. Lifetime is a one-time purchase — you pay once and keep every unlocked feature forever. There's nothing to renew and nothing to cancel.

Troubleshooting

My instance won't open. What's going on?
Most "won't open" failures happen when the underlying app updates in the background and temporarily stops working with Doppel. Force-stop both the original and the instance from Settings → Apps, then re-open. If it still fails, file a feedback report from inside Doppel and we'll add a fix to the next release.
My instance shows "blocked" or won't install.
Some apps (most banking apps, government apps, a few high-security messengers) refuse to run as a second instance. Those are on our excluded list. The block happens at the setup step rather than later, so you don't waste time configuring them.
I'm being signed out of my main app whenever I open the instance.
A few apps don't correctly handle two instances that share a Google sign-in. The fix is usually to sign out of the original, then back in. We're working to support side-by-side sign-in cleanly.
